October News and Specials!

Well, the leaves are changing, and we are EXCITED about all of the changes happening at Center Point!!

Our Open House is scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd, from 3:30 until 7 pm.  Please drop by to say hello, meet our new staff members, share some refreshments and enter our prize drawings.  Bring a friend or family member — maybe you have someone in your life who has questions about acupuncture, Chinese herbs, massage therapy — and they will be able to ask questions, check out their health insurance coverage, etc.  Also, you will both be entered into a drawing for  a FREE nutrition consultation, wellness coaching session, or a 30-minute massage.

“Intro to Wellness” class.  This is a two-part class directed by our new Wellness Coach, Melanie Clark.  Melanie comes to us from the Wellness Coaching program at Tai Sophia Institute, one of the leading holistic healing educational institutions in the United States.  The class will be held here at the office on two Thursdays,  October 13th and 27th, from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.  Your investment is only $20.  Space is limited, so sign up today.  The class will give you a sense of what Melanie has to offer her clients by asking the question, ‘where are you on the Wellness Wheel’?  Are you feeling stuck, going through a life transition?  Looking for a way to see what else is possible for your life?  This new service might be just what you need to help you get in touch with your inner wisdom.

“Delicious Fall Foods and Drinks” Cooking class.  This is a one-night class lead by Elizabeth Fellows.  Let’s eat, drink and explore some of fall’s tasty treats!  Quinoa, root vegetables, and tofu will be included in our yummy menu.  Wednesday, October 26th, 6:30 – 8:00 pm.  $30 gets you dinner and the class!

Finally, we have extended our discounted pricing on massage through 10/31/2011.  After that, prices will go up a bit.  If you want to lock in these super rates, you can purchase massage certificates now that will be good for six months.

Wishing you a wonderful October, and we hope to see you around,

Elizabeth, Darren, Shannon, and Melanie

How safe is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is extremely safe. It is an all-natural, drug-free therapy, yielding no side effects just feelings of relaxation and well-being. There is little danger of infection from acupuncture needles because they are sterile, used once, and then discarded.

How should I prepare?

  • Write down and bring any questions you have. We are here to help you.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing for easy access to acupuncture points.
  • Do not eat large meals just before or after
    your visit.
  • Refrain from overexertion, working out, drugs or alcohol for up to six hours after the visit.
  • Avoid stressful situations. Make time to relax, and be sure to get plenty of rest.
  • Between visits, take notes of any changes that may have occurred, such as the alleviation of pain, pain moving to other areas, or changes in the frequency and type of problems.

Will my insurance cover acupuncture?

Insurance coverage varies from state to state. Contact your insurance provider to learn what kind of care is covered. Here are a few questions to ask:

  • Will my plan cover acupuncture?
  • How many visits per calendar year?
  • Do I need a referral?
  • Do I have a co-pay?
  • Do I have a deductible?
  • If yes, has it been met?

How much does it cost?

Rates vary and depend upon what procedures are performed. It is best to consult with your acupuncturist about costs.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments will vary from person to person. Some people experience immediate relief; others may take months or even years to achieve results. Chronic conditions usually take longer to resolve than acute ones. Plan on a minimum of a month to see significant changes.

Treatment frequency depends on a variety of factors: your constitution, the severity and duration of the problem and the quality and quantity of your Qi. An acupuncturist may suggest one or two treatments per week, or monthly visits for health maintenance and seasonal “tune ups”.
